Let us assume that our Young Pirates go down there through the Seadog's Quarters. A faint light reach inside the Hold through the hatch on the main deck but it does only help to dimly distinguish a dark mass lurking in the wide central space without really knowing what's there. It is clear that the exploration cannot go on without light or daylight…

The general warehouse

That part of the Hold occupies more than the half of the volume of that level in the Suzon. It is moreover the widest level of the Ship, at the middle of its height of two point five meters, given the round-bellied shape of the hull.

In the light of a torch or lamp, it appears that that space of about seven meters in length for four point five meters in width is completely filled with huge thick pieces of cloth which, after a closer look, prove to be the entirety of the Suzon's Sail. Well, it seems at most that the two staysails to be installed between the mainmast and the mizzenmast are missing… That would be fine so but, oh, no! By the Great Z…! With a successful Roll versus Perception + Riggings & Ropeworks it appears that the brigantin sail is missing, which, above being quite impairing, is an irony on a… une Brigantine Ship! Navigation is of course still possible but, as we said already, will be impaired. Identify each sheet and detecting that some of them are missing requires some knowledge (Riggings & Ropeworks of Piloting) and quite a bit of time, which our Young Pirates will maybe not spend right now. That said, the sail of the Suzon is here for its greater part, including a mizzen topsail, the different square sheets of the mainmast (mainsail, main topsail and topgallant) and both the inner and outer jibs; for someone who would like to set sail soon with the Suzon, that is rather good news for there are otherwise few chances to find a complete set of sail at all on the Island of the Yellow Lizard. That said, it wouldn'd be exclusively luxury to find a brigantin or to make it for a Brigantine without a brigantin, it'S like a breadless day, like a cheeseless dinner and one knows how the whole story goes… That fizzles out in sprays of foam on a lone reef which lurked just below the waters' surface…

Important notice to the Game Master, to do whatever is needed about it: fact is that the Governor made for himself a bedspread with the said brigantin, in memory of his Pirate and Seawolf's past. It is indeed a very suggestive and decorative object: all black, it bears a drawing of the black and white stripped head of a zebra over two sabres, one obviously of a Pirate, the other of thinner and stranger form: a katana, but who knows what that is?! In short, all that is only to inform you already now about an item which will appear to our friends later. Moreover, the bed of the Governor is big and in the form of a trapeze to fit the form of Ze Brailgantine™ (a Brigantin Sail charged with Voodoo stuff) and that detail will maybe be useful at the required time. There are so far, whatsoever, very few chances that Poerava (or rather Ernesto, who could occasionally access the Governor's Bedroom) thinks to make a link, even if the lack of the brigantin is detected by one of our Young Pirates…

Thus, coming back to exploring the Suzon, one will forcibly state that there is not much more to discover here, except big shelves attached to the walls but for the time being empty. Il s’agitThat room is indeed the main warehouse of the Ship. One can also see many hooks at the ceiling, as well as ropeworks, not only for the dynamic riggings but also and more simply to hang things in the Some may also attempt to understand why there are here three terra cotta pots with soil in them and seemingly dead shrubs inside but fact is that nobody has an answer at that hour…

From that big room, two doors allow to go out, both located at port side, one towards the prow, the other astern.

The drink water Storeroom

One reaches here, in that room at the very Ship's Bow, through the door at the prow side of the general warehouse. And there, so deceptive a discovery: the six barrels, piled up here between the reinforced bowed beam at the Prow and the base of the foremast, are or were used to contain… water! Some still contain some liquid which still seems clear but we would only advise to clean the barrels thoroughly, refill them with fresh water and to refrain from drinking the liquid they contain now since many years for sure!

A seventh, bigger, barrel is linked to a pipe going to and through the ceiling, probably to collect rain water.

There is also in the room a barrel, full of asphalt (for sail canvas, waterproofing and possibly making torches) and some bottles of lamp oil. The whole stuff is almost empty but not completely; there remains enough to make a few torches or fill lamps for some hours. The idea to store such inflamable liquids close to water is not such a bad idea… One never knows! Wick, if there are still some on board, are not in the present room, surely to avoid, on the contrary, that they get wet accidentally.

There is otherwise nothing particular more to mention here.

The Kitchen, the food and rum Storeroom

The door opening astern from the General Warehouse is locked and blocked with a verrou, which can, for instance, be stated after having successfully crocheté it, the key itself not being to find in the vicinity. What is hidden behind, which one seems to wand to protect? It is difficult to say without going there for a check! Our Young Pirates may decide to enfoncer the door, this is something which you can now manage without a problem, friend Game Master! One will also notice there that it isn't the best of ideas if one has the perspective to invest in that Ship but well… A skilled Carpenter on Board will manage very well to make a new door of acceptable quality…

The other solution implies to go back up to the main Desk and go through the Steerage, the Captain's Cabin and go down again over the stairs there. One reaches then a room which once was the Captain's Treasure (otherwise described in that section also), of which the door opens into the same room which is the subject of that paragraph; now the door on the other side is not closed and the reason why that is so will probably be clear after having read the following lines.

The room which opens then is smaller than the General Warehouse but it encompasses anyway the whole width of the hull – about four meters in width by three in the length of the Ship. Judging from its furniture, equipment and that which still lies there, this must be the Kitchen, while at the same time the food storage and… the hold for the rum!! Talking about rum, by the way, there is some left, maybe not too dusty - who knows? - in some of the barrels. Somebody wanna try? By chance for our Young Pirates, the Lwa already largely took their share and the alcoholic content of the brownish liquids have become rather low (Virulence 2, not more, that's telling something…).

The Kitchen is rather well equipped, with working planes against each wall of the hull, a table in the center and big shelves on the separation wall on the Prow side. Barrels are stored on the Stern side and partially hide the column of the mizzenmast which goes through that level. A stove is integrated in the working plane on the port side while there is a sink in that of starboard. A wood storage is located aside the stove and a water tank able to collect rain water from the Deck after filtering above the sink. All the necessary pipes for: eliminating fumes, bring and reject water in and out of the Ship are in place and maybe still can operate properly. Various instruments to handle the stove are available, as well as other kitchen ustensiles of more general application range – But there is no can-opener! Well, in case it might have been of any use…

At the ceiling, one can see long metallic or wooden rods and even ropes, which usually are used to hang provisions to be dried. That which is more surprising is that there still is, for those interested, a chicken – don't know why without a pulley and rather mummified as dried – a ham, partly eaten and harder than a piece of wood, as well as a dried eel, and there! So deep dried and surprisingly still so flexible that it seems it is made of Rabba! Moreover, that eel is unusually long and thin: it is almost four meter long, weighs three kilos and seems to be able to sustain hard traction. It is quite obvious that such a Rabbay Dried Eel™ could have many an unexpected use…

As for the rest, there remain also dry and ultra-dry rat droppings, which shows that the last rats left the Ship first after having eaten everything that was edible on board – And, no! Rats, against the common thougt and saying, are not the first to leave a Ship! Two possible (complementary?) conclusions to that: one, there are no more rats on the Ship right now; two, it is not necessarily a wonderful idea to try to eat the ham, the chicken or the eel just like that…

And that will be it for the Kitchen for the time being. Note that it could be a very interesting place to meet Pedro Delgado, notably because of the locked door for one who would try to escape to the general warehouse… But we leave to you the timing and organisation of that key event, of which we now and at last come closer and closer…
