First steps into Piracy
A first thing for Poerava is a pact to be signed in blood to tie the Crew together but Poerava also has a full-fledge action plan which she intends to explain to her new comrades in Piracy…
The Pirate Pact
The Pirate pact which Poerava wishes to enact consists in making a cut in ones own hand to mix the blood of all in a goblet shaped in the form of a skull (To be honest, it is really the bottom of a skull which has been carved out to make a balanced bowl when placed on its lower jaw – but the said jaw is missing and thus it cannot remain quite so stable on the ground…) which Poerava found nobody knows where… Those who are frightened to participate can equally give all their equipment back and go back home! Poerava threatens them by the way with the most terrible consequences if they would try to reveal even a hint to that which they have seen and heard until now but she'll very first of all try - for some reasons which are obvious to you, we hope, Friend Game Master… – to convince them to stay.
That done or said, she cuts her hand and let her blood sip in the goblet, then pass it to the Captain or to the Character closest to her if she is the Captain herself. The goblet makes a complete circle through the group. When everyone executed the ritual (Ernesto or any other parrot in the Crew is not concerned by the procedure…), she raises the goblet over her head and says:
« – By the present pact, we, Pirates of the Yellow Lizard's Island, commit for the remaining of our lives and into the most horrible death to let the winds sail us over the Seven Seas to uncountable bounties and glories without ever weakening! Without ever betray! Under penalty to have to wander through the Realm of Ghosts for eternity! »
It goes without saying that everybody is quite moved – « Impressed » would be better chosen? – by that little girl of thirteen, able to spell such words. There is not much from there to believing she really cast a spell for a magical pact… The Game Master can secretly roll for the Players' Characters versus « Power + Got A Nerve! » to give an orientation to the Characters' reactions and the scene.
To those who failed at the Roll, the Game Master can say they feel that Poerava cast a spell for real. On a Critical Failure, they even slide somewhat into a panic for they clearly believe to have seen her throw herbs in the goblet and smile in a disturbing manner…
To be honest, Poerava has no magic knowledge whatsoever. On the other hand, she truly is exulting in that moment for her dream is maybe about to come true. And it is to hope that it is likely to be the same for the Players' Characters - or most of them at least!
At last, she goes to the Chapel of the Rock, inviting the fresh Crew to follow her, and puts the skull in a hole against the wall, which she fills up again before saying:
« Let's start now with the really serious business. Follow me in the woods. I want no spying ear now. »
Poerava's plan
Once under cover of the wood, Poerava unveils her plan to our friends very young Pirates :
« – Now open yer lugholes, Mates: are we now Pirates?! Aye, that we are! And what does need a Pirate? Takin' the sea, sooner or later, and for that we need a Ship… and the skills to sail it!
« Now, I recently heard that [Some of the Characters know it maybe also for some legends run around about Haunted Ships], on that island where the smallest bark is forbidden, there still exists a fierce Ship, moreover a Pirate Ship!
« She is at port since many a year in the Convict's Creek but she would still be in a very good condition. [Does one of the legends not say that it is just because she is haunted that she still is in « perfect » condition?…] That is the Governor's Ship… And we'll steal it, that we'll do! As well as everything we can get and would need to embark.
« We'll also need food and beverage, certainly also canvas and wood, etc. Well in short, we'll need plenty of things before we can release all sail and leave! There is work to do, boys / Captain! [Adapt according to the situation.] »
If asked questions, Poerava will try to answer with that which she knows but it is not much more than that which she already said, except regarding the place where the extremely important documents and artifacts for Pirates and for navigating the Suzon - for that is the name of the Ship - are stored:
« – There is a secret cabinet, hidden somewhere in the Governor's Mansion, aye, that's for sure! But I cannot be sure of its localisation for weare not allowed [Poerava implicitely speaks of Elorria and her] to access it and I could not catch the Governor going there…
« But that's not the worse. I think, moreover, that the door is closed by a key and I still do not know where that key can be… [The Governor carries it all the time on a pendant on him for it hides too many a dim thing from his past…] All I know is that the Governor goes to that cabinet at least twice a week to "work" there and that we absolutely need to break that secrecy and go get there what is of interest to us…
« I hope we'll find a plan. For the time being I have none and we'll probably have to make a coordinated action to succeed. But let's wait for the moment and go to see "our" Ship?! »
It is, however, already quite late at night and some are maybe quite exhausted or afraid of the reprisals of their parents – You can test that with the Roll of a dice versus « Constitution + Got A Nerve! » with a Malus of 1 for everyone, including Poerava who might as well renounce following her own idea.
This will thus be an action for this night or the next, according to the case. But in the latter, Poerava or the Captain if she's not herself in the role, will fix the meeting point to the next sunset with some provisions, torches – to be found until then – and the complete Pirate attire, and be it taken care of!… Poerava would propose to meet slightly lower than the Cow's Neck, close to the ruin of a sheep pen which is easy to find at the left of the path.
